Programme for Spring/Summer 2012

We look forward to welcoming everyone to our evenings of dancing. We are a friendly group of mixed ability, all dances are walked through first, so do come along and have a go. Most evenings there is a workshop for beginners at 7.30pm, but please phone to check.

March 14th.   Dee Chapman is making a welcome return visit to call. Dee comes from Warwickshire and always gives us a really good evening of dancing. Our club band Kan'co will be providing the music.

March 28th.   Club caller Gillian Jackson will guide us through the dances.  We are delighted to welcome Kevin Downham to the club again. Kevin comes from Rugby and he is an amazing accordion player.

    April 11th.

Tonight club callers Pete and Marj Hendy are working with a group of talented teenaged musicians from the Stroud area called 'The Downfielders'. It is a privilege to have such a young band to play for us and they will inspire us to dance with extra vigour.

April 25th.  The stage will be full with musicians from the big band 'Musical Folk'. This band encourages anyone who is interested in playing for folk dancing and John Thorn, the leader, always welcomes new members. Club caller Lionel Parkhouse will be helping us through the dances.

May 9th.  Our AGM starts the evening but then we quickly get on with dancing. John Boucher, one of our six club callers, will call to the music of club band 'Just Us' which is led by Irene Shields.

May 23rd.  Alan Davies is paying us his annual visit. Alan is an internationally known caller who comes from Bristol. Visiting band 'Baily's Beads' will provide the music.

June 6th.   Our chairman Pete Hendy as caller and club band Kan'co as musicians will make for a good evening of dancing.

June 20th.   This week it is Marj Hendy's turn to call and she will be helped by an excellent visiting musician Brian McMinn who hails from Worcestershire.

July 4th.    A party evening as it is the last before the summer break. There will be a bring and share supper and we will continue dancing for an extra half an hour. All the club callers will call a few dances and 'Musical Folk' will play.

      To be continued . . . . . . . first evening will be September 12th and then fortnightly. . . .
